Charlotte Family Housing has plenty of opportunities for individuals and groups to get involved in our program. Below are just some of the opportunities we have highlighted. Call a volunteer team member today to learn more!
Volunteer at one of our shelter sites:
Elizabeth House (715 Hawthorne Lane) or Hawthorne Place (300 Hawthorne Lane, located inside St. John’s Baptist Church) – Volunteers are needed to serve as overnight hosts and provide meals. Congregations and organizations are requested to supply volunteers for a week at a time in order to provide overnight coverage from Sunday – Thursday nights, and also to provide lunch on Sunday and dinner on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
Plaza Place (2410 The Plaza) – Groups and individuals are needed to organize activities for children, maintain the landscaping, and assist with regular deep cleaning of the facility. Volunteers are welcome to suggest other activities where they can share their gifts and talents. Youth between the ages of 12 – 17 can volunteer at our monthly Youth Serve Day.

Serve as a Hope Team member:
For volunteers interested in long-term engagement with a family moving from homelessness to housing, Hope Teams provide that opportunity. Hope Teams are comprised of 4-6 people generally from the same faith community or organization. Each team is matched with one family to provide support and encouragement by building relationships as guided by the CFH Social Worker and the Hope Team Manager. Hope Team volunteers are required to attend an orientation and training provided by Hope Team Managers.
